Who we’re looking for
Toyota Financial Services Legal Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Managing Counsel – Automotive Finance Originations.
The primary responsibility of this role is to provide advice on a broad array of consumer finance issues, including auto finance originations and compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, the person in this role will support the Legal department's objective to provide sound legal advice to various business units.
What you’ll be doing
Partnering with the sales operations LOB to evaluate, develop, and implement consistent and strategically sound policies, practices, and procedures
Monitor and advise the sales operations LOB on developments and changes in state and federal laws and regulations
Partnering with Compliance, Risk Management, and Audit in a variety of areas, including state and federal regulatory examinations and inquiries, complaint analysis, and root cause determinations
Evaluating, researching, and advising on pilots and strategic initiatives in the mobility finance space
Drafting service provider, dealer, consumer contracts, and other legal documents
Managing the review and approval of motor vehicle optional products for inclusion on Toyota, Lexus, and non-affiliated partners' finance contracts
What you bring
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
Currently licensed to practice law in any of the 50 states or the District of Columbia and able to be licensed to practice law in the state of Texas within one year of hire
5-12 years of relevant legal experience in a similar field or industry
Added bonus if you have
Working knowledge of TILA, CLA, TCPA, SCRA, UDAAP, FTC, and FCRA, and related sales/originations law
Experience working with risk management, compliance, and auditing.
Additional certifications: ex. CPA or PMP
2+ years of experience working in-house or as external counsel advising lenders in the auto finance industry
