JPMorgan Chase Data Analyst Specialist in Plano, Texas

The Data Analyst Specialist is an integral role in Data Governance and is responsible for management of the data lifecycle. The support pillars include: gathering and documenting metadata for data elements related to critical business operation processes, data quality and reporting, and oversight of data access controls. Certified data will be used for remediation, external board reporting, as well as policy and process implementations.

The Data Analyst Specialist will help improve data quality and consistency and support program data certification requirements by analyzing process controls and root cause, coordinating activities to support problem resolution, and developing metrics to support processes, as needed. Data Stewards are guardians and decision makers for specific data elements related to metadata and data quality that drive data access controls. Data Stewards are responsible for understanding metadata, usage, standards and quality for specific data elements. Data Management also controls access to data based on the understanding of the data, setting parameters known as Protection Groups that grant differing levels of access to critical data such as personal, account, authenticators, and privacy data.

Job Responsibilities

  • Drive data consistency and data health improvement efforts by partnering with key stakeholders to define business terms/concepts, and maintaining stringent standards across data classifications, data requirements, and documentation/metadata

  • Facilitate resolution and oversight of data quality issues and data sourcing gaps.

  • Develop and execute processes supporting data management practices, including Data Governance, Classification, Quality, Use, Protection, Storage, Retention and Destruction

  • Develop relationships with product data delivery partners and data consumers, including leaders in the Business, Technology, Analytics, Operations, and Control functions

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably with a focus in Computer Science, MIS, Software Engineering, or a related discipline

  • 2+ years of relevant industry knowledge

  • Experience working with the data systems supporting the wholesale payments business, including experience writing queries and analyzing related results is required.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to understand business and technical functions, process information quickly and assess impacts to registered data elements

  • High Level understanding of information architecture requirements, including the value of Logical/Physical data models and the overall understanding of the key components of a metadata framework

  • Experience with Cloud based and open source technologies.

  • Experience with Programming Languages: SQL Coding, familiarity with JSON, Python, and API technologies.

  • Experience with Analytical tools: Advanced in Excel, familiarity of dashboarding utilities like Tableau/Click Sense/Streamlit, and Alteryx.

Preferred Qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • 2+ years of experience in a major financial services organization, with experience in management and oversight of operational deliverables.

  • 2+ year of experience in any of the following disciplines: Data usage, Data Quality, Process Analysis, Process Improvement, Business Intelligence and Analytical tools, Technology Development/Support

  • Manage projects / communicates in a clear, concise and efficient manner with multiple teams locally and globally. Has ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships. Ability to understand business problems/processes and design solutions/methodologies that are rooted in data.

  • Team player with a demonstrated strong work ethic.
