Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant/Receptionist

Department: Women’s Health-Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery

Location:Medical Arts Pavilion - 5 Plainsboro Road, Suite 490, Plainsboro, NJ

Hours: Full Time, 7:30am-4pm or 8am-4:30pm

$1,000 sign-on bonus! *f or external candidates only

Summary:

  • The Certified Medical Assistant/Medical Receptionist position provides both clerical support and clinical care

  • When working as the Medical Receptionist, they will be responsible for scheduling patient appointments, collecting insurance information and patient demographics, collecting co-pays at time of service and processing referrals and pre-certifications of procedures

  • When working as the Certified Medical Assistant, they will provide clinic services for patients including vital signs, point of care testing, providing assistance to providers with procedures when needed, collecting specimens and documentation of results.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs and documents patient information including blood pressure, height, and weight

  • Provides assistance to providers when performing procedures as needed

  • Assists nurses in processing of documents and files including all data entry

  • Assists nurses and physicians in performing clerical duties

  • Works effectively and collaboratively with other staff to provide high-level customer service

  • Provides reception services including answering the phone, greeting patients, registering, and notifying clinical staff of the arrival of both scheduled and unscheduled patients, if necessary

  • Monitors, organizes, and create list for medical supplies needed to be ordered

  • Appropriately utilizes time in the performance of assigned administrative functions

  • Engages in effective communications with all staff to ensure smooth operations, effective problem solving, and enhanced team interactions

  • Supports customer service and performance improvement goals of the department; collaborates with other caregivers/staff, within and outside the Department, to develop means of enhancing patient care and service

  • Maintains standards of confidentiality

  • Participates in unit compliance as related to established standards

  • Accountable for improving patient care through adherence to all patient safety and quality standards, regulations, and best practices.

Credentials:

  • Medical Assistant Certification required - certification must be through MA-AAMA or MA-AMT or MA-NCCT or MA-NHA (Required)

  • Driver's License (Required)

  • Valid New Jersey driver’s license required.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. A minimum of 2-3 year’s experience in a healthcare setting in a similar position is preferable. Doctors office experience preferred, and electronic medical records.

  • Gynecology or OB/GYN knowledge (Preferred)
