Description We are seeking a Bookkeeper in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, United States. This role offers a long term contract employment opportunity in the accounting industry. As a Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for managing financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments, while ensuring accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards and procedures.
Responsibilities:
• Accurate recording and processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Perform bookkeeping duties such as coding, recording, posting, and processing day-to-day transactions.
• Maintain and update accounting records by performing duties such as recording and posting transactions in journals and the general ledger for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
• Analyze and manage data entry into systems and reconcile any discrepancies.
• Use software applications such as Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks to manage and analyze financial data.
• Prepare and send invoices, credit memos, and purchase orders.
• Process all payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures.
• Perform day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data.
• Reconcile the accounts receivable ledger to ensure all payments are accounted for and properly posted.
• Verify discrepancies by customers and resolve clients' billing issues. Requirements • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Solid experience in Bookkeeping
• Proficient in Data Entry tasks
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Familiarity with QuickBooks software
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong numerical abilities
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field is a plus
• Prior experience in a similar role is desirable
• Knowledge of general accounting principles
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to analyze and revise operating practices to improve efficiency
• Confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information
• High degree of familiarity with accounting software and administrative systems.
