Vira I Heinz Director

The Vira I Heinz (VIH) Program Assistant Director is responsible for overseeing the Alumni Network of the VIH Program. This involves overseeing mentorship program, designing in-person events, overseeing social media outlets, and deepening relationships between and across cohorts. The incumbent will provide holistic, developmental advising for underrepresented, first-time women and gender minority travelers, and will oversee the execution of the VIH Community Engagement Experiences (CEE) at the 14 VIH institutions. This position will support the VIH Director and VIH Campus Coordinators at the VIH institutions throughout the different components of the VIH Program such as advising, marketing, and interview processes. Finally, the Assistant Director will assist with paperwork though PantherExpress and Concur. Some evening and weekend hours are required of this position, and local and regional travel is expected up to 30 percent of the time. This position is hybrid, with 2 remote days per week.

Job Summary

Performs all administrative and operational functions of a program. Coordinates all program events and personnel and provides services directly to customers. Develops and implements program policies and procedures. Performs budgetary functions and oversees media communications, website updates, and newsletters.

Essential Functions

Manages programs, which include the development, administration, planning, and coordinating of one more academic, educational, recreational, cultural, residential, social, or other cocurricular student programs. Manages or assists in managing the budget of a program. Coordinates activities of various departments or personnel within department. Assists with research responsibilities and exploring new opportunities and grants. Provides services directly to customers. Establishes uniform correspondence procedures and style practices. Oversees the creation of newsletters and updates to the website and other media to promote the program. Reviews clerical and personnel records to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness. Prepares activity reports for guidance of management. Performs other related duties as required.

Physical Effort

Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
