Carmeuse Americas Tax Manager in PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania
Roles and Responsibilities
Responsible for subject areas within the Carmeuse Americas Tax Department as delegated by the Global Tax Director, primarily: U.S. federal and state income and franchise taxes, Canadian income taxes, South American income taxes
The Tax Manager is the person primarily responsible for seeing that issues are resolved and projects are completed, including interacting directly with tax authorities or tax advisors as appropriate, and establishing best practices within their subject area. The role focuses on minimizing tax liabilities, including recovery of overpaid taxes and appeal of tax assessment disputes.
The Tax Manager will also be involved from time to time on U.S. or international business initiatives requiring the capacity to advise on tax consequences, with the assistance of outside advisors as needed, so as to model the financial impact of the taxes.
The Tax Manager may also assist with or participate in other areas of tax managed by others in the Carmeuse Americas Tax Department. The position will report directly to the Global Tax Director based in Belgium HQ. Occasional U.S. and international travel is expected.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or tax
Minimum 5 years relevant experience, strong knowledge of U.S. income and franchise taxes
US tax compliance experience
Ability to manage subject area responsibilities along with internal and external resources
Tax compliance and research software experience
General computer skills, strong Microsoft Excel skills
Strong organizational and analytical skills
Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
Additional Qualifications
Experience or familiarity with Canadian and South American income taxes
Other international tax experience
CPA, comparable certification or advanced degree
SAP experience

Salary range for this position is $107,000 - $120,000
