The Office of International Services (OIS) is the University's immigration specialist, serving all campuses and the 6000 international students, scholars, staff, and faculty who call Pitt their academic home. Our chief job is to make sure that immigration issues are handled smoothly, quickly, correctly, and in compliance. The department is currently seeking a qualified Sunapsis Systems Analyst.

This is a high-level analytical position responsible for coordinating and assisting in the development and implementation of functional solutions to immigration issues and initiatives. The Sunapsis Systems Analyst will participate in the analysis, evaluation, maintenance, and customization of Sunapsis, the database and casework management system, with the primary responsibilities of problem resolution and optimizing existing functionality. The Sunapsis Systems Analyst will assist in leveraging technology to ensure operational efficiency, improve business processes, streamline workflows, and make recommendations to better utilize University systems to support area functions.

The Sunapsis Systems Analyst will work with and across office teams to evaluate business needs and processes in order to recommend and implement complex solutions in Sunapsis. Works with the Pitt international community, Pitt staff, and internal OIS staff to solve more complex problems using technology, including troubleshooting issues within the Sunapsis platform. In addition, this position is responsible for all quality controls and relevant reporting in the Sunapsis database.

Job Summary

Develops, codes, tests, debugs, implements, and maintains complex websites and/or software. Prepares detailed specifications and recommendations for software, programs, and test procedures.

Essential Functions

The Sunapsis Systems Analyst will be responsible for the development of queries and reports using software and tools to extract, store and analyze data from the Sunapsis environment to support and enhance business processes, planning, and decision-making. In addition, this position will create all necessary reports for Open Doors, special requests, and public reports. The Sunapsis Systems Analyst is expected to be familiar with OIS services and processes as well as US immigration requirements in order to anticipate and propose effective solutions, not merely respond to external requests.

The Sunapsis Systems Analyst will work with and across office teams to evaluate business needs and processes in order to recommend and implement complex solutions in Sunapsis. This will include troubleshooting issues within the Sunapsis platform for all users. In addition, this position will serve as a liaison between University system user population, central IT, and third-party vendor user populations for issue identification and problem resolution purposes.

The Analyst will leverage Sunapsis's core functions and create customized elements to solve highly complex immigration processes. When necessary, s/he will assist colleagues with query and report development. The Sunapsis Systems Analyst will take the lead in maintaining a reliable, highly-available application environment through monitoring the production and test environments as well as testing and implementing operating system, ColdFusion, and Sunapsis updates.

The ideal candidate for this role will possess a Bachelors degree in the field of computer or information sciences and demonstrate a track record as a systems analyst or as a Sunapsis administrator. The Sunapsis System Analyst must be a US citizen or permanent resident in order to be eligible to serve as a DSO/ARO in SEVIS. Preference will be given to applicants who can provide evidence of expertise in SEVIS batch systems, SQL, and system customizations. Preference will also be given to applicants with immigration knowledge.
