UPMC Stationary Engineer, 3rd Class in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Stationary Engineer to manage and maintain the boilers and related building systems originating in the Boiler Room. The ideal candidate must hold a current Class A Stationary Engineer's license from the City of Pittsburgh and a valid PA vehicle operator's license. The position requires availability to work either 2:30 PM – 10:30 PM or 10:30 PM – 6:30 AM.
Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain boilers and associated building systems.
Conduct chemical analysis of steam, condensate, open and closed loop systems, and water softeners; add chemicals as needed to maintain proper balance.
Prepare and maintain comprehensive records and reports, including daily temperature logs, boiler logs, cooling tower logs, gas meter logs, steam recorder logs, chemical analysis logs, fire pump logs, and various problem and follow-up reports.
Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, and dress code.
Perform tasks in line with departmental productivity standards.
Request and efficiently use parts and materials for facility repair and maintenance.
Collaborate with hospital personnel, ensuring compliance with hospital policies, regulations, and standards.
Conduct daily inspections of mechanical, electrical, and piping systems; adjust functional parts as necessary.
Perform a variety of mechanical, electrical, and piping repairs, and install new equipment as directed.
Complete preventive and repair maintenance work orders, ensuring accurate records of work performed and materials used.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area and equipment.
Respond to emergency situations as dictated by hospital policy, including fire or bomb threats.
Attend mandatory in-service programs and departmental meetings; participate in optional continuing education programs.
Communicate significant departmental activities and concerns through appropriate channels; respect others' opinions and accept constructive criticism.
Maintain patient confidentiality.
Assist other maintenance personnel as needed, including in areas such as refrigeration, carpentry, and electrical work.
Observe all sanitation and safety regulations; report unsafe or unusual conditions to the Director.
Work scheduled holidays and shifts.
Make recommendations for improving methods and procedures.
Maintain knowledge of shop equipment for part fabrication and repair.
Demonstrate dependability through good attendance and punctuality.
Respond promptly and effectively to customer needs, treating all with courtesy, respect, and concern.
Operate the Siemens Building Automation system and equipment.
High school diploma or equivalency required.
Two years medium or high pressure boiler plant experience preferred.
Two years experience in healthcare maintenance preferred.
General knowledge of email, Word and other common software programs preferred. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
