Sponsored Projects Accountant (Remote)

 

The University of Pittsburgh is searching for a highly motivated person that is willing to learn for the position of Sponsored Projects Accountant. The Sponsored Projects Accounting department (SPA) is responsible for the fiscal administration of grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements made to the University by government, other non-profit, and private agencies approximating $900M annually. This position will serve as the financial intermediary between the sponsoring agencies and the University Principal Investigator/Project Director performing the functions of activating new awards in the Oracle financial system environment; performing ongoing maintenance for amendments, renewals, extensions, and other modifications; preparing and submitting periodic reimbursement claims and financial reports; monitoring the progress of projects throughout the full life cycle of each project and handling the financial close-out. This position requires an organized and detail-oriented individual with the ability to work independently and utilize automated accounting systems, Excel, and other databases. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or other business-related field is preferred. Non-business candidates with related experience and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply. Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for degree requirement.
