Overall Summary

The Solutions Architect I – (Oracle Energy and Water Applications) will be responsible for designing and modifying technical architecture for the Oracle Energy and Water (OUS) Suite of Applications, which include Customer Care & Billing (CCB), Meter Data Management (MDM) and Mobile Workforce Management (MWM), that support multiple areas of our utility business. The Solutions Architect I will be assigned to complex initiatives and projects that require specialized functional and technical expertise across a wide range of technical disciplines. This role will also be responsible for providing technical direction on proposed customizations, integrations and solutions within Oracle Energy and Water (OUS) applications.

Location: Hybrid (see below), downtown Pittsburgh, PA

Responsibilities

  • Support IT projects on the Oracle Energy & Water Applications Roadmap as the Oracle Solution Architect I, including technical design reviews, integration solutions, analyze upgrade impact/options, and data & customization governance.

  • Designing integration strategies between OUS solutions and other corporate applications.

  • Designing and configuration of the OUS rate engine by collaborating closely with the Rate & Tarif team in accordance with our tariff policies.

  • Expand the Oracle Energy and Water Application knowledge within the organization.

  • Providing 3rd tier support as required for resolving technical production system problems as they arise.

  • Work with Customer Product Teams and Managed Service Provider to select and implement scalable solutions and products.

  • Directing third parties (vendors and consultants) assisting DLC in developing and implementing on-premises as well as cloud (SaaS or hosted) solutions.

  • Supporting the development of third-party applications and custom integration solutions including major enhancements and interfaces. Capable of writing specifications when needed.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field required

  • Seven (7+) or more years of relevant experience required

  • Relevant experience includes but is not limited to proven work experience as a solution architect, technical lead or systems analyst for customer billing software applications.

  • Direct or indirect utility experience strongly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of system integrations, data integrity, Oracle databases, customer billing processes and systems.

  • Knowledge of Oracle Energy and Water Applications or other Oracle Applications / ERP packages strongly preferred

Skills and Abilities Utilized in this Role Include:

  • Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Electric utility metering or billing experience strongly preferred, such as experience with the following:

  • Customer Care and Billing (CCB)

  • Meter Data Management (MDM)

  • Mobile Workforce Management (MWM)

  • Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)

  • Experience with project management, SDLC, testing methodology for vendor sourced applications, and software coding (examples include SQL, Oracle Databases) required.

  • Ability to operate in a project orientation, adhering to standards in the PMI (or similar) project management methodology/framework.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and creative problem-solving techniques in a highly-complex environment.

  • Experience with specifying and/or directing modifications to existing software applications and modules in accordance with high level specifications and industry standards using disciplined software development processes

Scope

Primary Focus is on daily deliverables, outputs, and reporting. Accountable for managing one's own time and workflow and leads projects and/or large project steps. Work is complex in nature requiring the incumbent to draw on previous knowledge to perform role. Acts independently the majority of the time, requiring guidance in only complex situations. Has well established capabilities, acts as a resource to less experienced staff on moderately complex issues.

Decision Impact

Problems and issues faced are vague and require analysis of multiple sources of information for solution. Draws on significant past experience to perform role. Accountable for direct level of reasoning and decision making.

Hybrid Work

Position follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.

Storm Roles
