UPMC Senior Accounting Analyst - UPMC International in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

As the International Senior Accounting Analyst, you will support consolidation, analysis, and communication of the UPMC International business to International Executives, and UPMC Leadership. The Senior mentors finance colleagues on a day-to-day basis and provides instructions, guidance, and leadership.

This is an exciting and dynamic role that provides unique exposure to UPMC’s global business.

This role may require occasional international travel.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the month end UPMC International closing process, compliance, and annual budgeting process.

· Set and communicate critical deadlines and share required templates

· Consolidate submissions from multiple systems, countries, and partners into the UPMC reporting systems

· Analyze P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow results to proactively identify and remedy issues and risks

· Maintain a strong control and compliance environment

· Investigate variances and implement risk mitigation strategies

Support International Reporting and FP&A

· Support financial reporting that identifies and explains variances vs. budget and expectations

· Frame forecasts and results in appropriate context

· Develop clear communication and recommendations to address business issues

Coach, develop, and mentor staff.

· Acts as a mentor for analysts or administrative staff.

Process Improvement & Ad Hoc

· Develop process improvements to automate/minimize low value activities, while freeing capacity to take on high value analysis

· Lead ad hoc analysis to improve processes and optimize financial performance

· Support Lease vs Buy and analysis and foreign equipment purchases

· Manage expense cross charges and cash flows between UPMC entities

· Analyze and explain foreign currency trends and business impact

Meet deadlines and turnaround times set by International Leadership and UPMC.

Use knowledge and expert understanding of financial, clinical and other information generated by numerous sources to identify opportunities to improve performance.

Perform all responsibilities according to the philosophy and mission of the UPMC by conveying courtesy, respect, enthusiasm and a positive attitude in work situations involving patients, visitors, clinical staff, co-workers, other UPMC staff and external contacts.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related business field required.

  • Minimum of three years of related work experience required.

  • OR High School Diploma/GED and five years of related work experience.

  • CPA/MBA or equivalent advance degree preferred.

  • Experience in the health care industry preferred.

  • Proficiency in various computer software packages such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PeopleSoft, COGNOS, MRS and Hyperion.

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to relate to CFO, Hospital Presidents, senior Hospital administrators, and other Hospital professional and technical personnel.

  • Excellent planning, communication, documentation, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, enthusiasm and initiative on a daily basis.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment a must.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, and forge strong interpersonal relationships within the department, with other departments, and with external audiences.

  • Attention to detail is critical to the success of this position, with demonstrated competency in customer orientation and the ability to cope with ambiguity.

  • Ability to interpret and summarize results of various analyses in a timely and meaningful way.

  • Critical to have well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
