University of Pittsburgh Post Doctoral.Post Doctoral.Associate in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Post Doctoral.Post Doctoral.Associate Chem/Petroleum Engineering - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (24005300)

The Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh will have an opening for a postdoctoral research associate position with a PhD in an appropriate discipline (Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or related field). The post-doc will develop a fundamental understanding of the dynamics of nanoparticles under environmental stimuli for a wide variety of technical applications, from III-V nanowire growth to heterogeneous catalysis using cutting-edge electron microscopy methods, including environmental in situ transmission electron microscopy (ETEM) and ex-situ aberration-corrected scanning TEM (STEM) for elemental and chemical mapping that will be closely coordinated with other processing methods, theoretical simulationism and correlated with properties. In particular, the post-doctoral research associate will contribute to the ongoing research in nanowire growth and catalytic reactions in Prof. Judith Yang's group in close collaboration with the electron microscopy group at the Center for Functional Nanomaterials (CFN) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL), as well as experts in Synthesis, Characterization, Testing, Theory, and Machine Learning at various universities and national laboratories. The Post Doc must hold a PhD

The research will be performed under the direction of Prof. Judith Yang at the University of Pittsburgh and the Center for Functional Nanomaterials at Brookhaven National Laboratory. This work will include significant access to unique aberration-corrected and environmental TEMs/STEMs, allowing the candidate to gain expertise in the application and development of advanced microscopy to problems in oxidation and catalytic reactions and collaborate with many experts in different fields.
