University of Pittsburgh Post Doctoral Associate in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Post Doctoral Associate Med-Radiology - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (24006998)
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate to join our group of physicists, radiologists, engineers, and computer scientists conducting research in medical imaging. The primary focus of our lab's research is quantitative image analysis, specifically developing quantitative breast imaging biomarkers to optimize breast cancer screening and diagnosis.
Potential candidates will have the opportunity to participate in multi-disciplinary and translational research projects conducted in the clinical and research facilities at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). UPMC encompasses 14 hospitals, ten affiliated hospitals, and more than 25 rehabilitation centers and is the leading integrated healthcare delivery system in western Pennsylvania. Among the hospitals that are part of the UPMC health system, Magee-Women's Hospital serves as the primary center for the Breast Imaging Division. Our breast imaging operations are fully digital, including 10 FFDM systems and 15 tomosynthesis units. Potential candidates can collaborate with several breast radiologists who are active in research and have access to our large archive of over 100,000 breast screening and diagnostic images performed annually at UPMC.
Due to our proximity to Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), potential candidates can expand on our existing collaborations or create new ones with world-leading machine learning experts at CMU. In addition, our researchers can access the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center (PSC), specifically Bridges, a system designed for big data and artificial intelligence research.
We support postdoctoral associates to become independent investigators through close mentorship on grant writing, publications in top journals, and providing opportunities to attend career development seminars/workshops from the University and national organizations.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in physics, engineering, computer science/engineering, or a related field, be independent thinkers with an affinity for research, and have effective writing and communication skills.
Preference is given to those with experience in
• Breast imaging
• Quantitative image analysis
• Deep learning
• Python, MATLAB, C/C++, and/or other packages for deep learning and imaging analysis
