Post Doctoral Associate - Bean Lab Med-Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - 24007588
The Musculoskeletal Regenerative Rehabilitation Laboratory MMRL, under the direction of Allison Bean, MD, PhD, is accepting applications for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our growing team. The MRRL is a Core laboratory in the Bethel Musculoskeletal Research Center, a diverse, multidisciplinary team of physicians and scientists performing cutting-edge basic and translational research to improve treatment for musculoskeletal diseases. A successful candidate will work on mechanistically driven projects exploring the potential of extracellular vesicles for tissue repair using in vitro and rodent in vivo models.
Candidates must be able to work independently and will be responsible for designing and conducting experiments, presenting at scientific conferences, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and applying for appropriate internal or external funding opportunities. The candidate can expect to receive mentoring from a diverse group of faculty and will be encouraged to participate in career development activities, including grant writing, mentorship, and research program management.
Prior experience with the following techniques is desirable: aseptic cell culture, western blot, immunoassays, PCR, histology, microscopy epifluorescence/confocal, image analysis, and small animal handling and/or surgery.

Duties or Responsibilities:
- Lead projects focused on utilizing extracellular vesicles for tendon and/or skeletal muscle repair using in vitro and in vivo rodent models.
- Assist with the preparation of grant proposals.
- Mentor and supervise undergraduate student research projects
Qualifications or Expectations:
- PhD in biology, bioengineering, or related field of study. MDs with extensive prior research experience may also be considered.
- Prior evidence of research productivity.
- Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and interest in pursuing an independent career in translational musculoskeletal research.
- Self-driven with excellent time management skills.
- Effective communication in English written and oral.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams with diverse backgrounds.
