Part-Time Patient & Family Concierge (UPMC Presbyterian/5G)

This part-time position requires 20 hours per week, including one 12-hour shift on either Saturday or Sunday and two 4-hour shifts per week from 7 PM to 11 PM.

About the Unit:

5G is a 22-bed unit specializing in the care of patients with complex brain and spinal cord trauma, stroke, and various neurosurgical conditions. Our team focuses on supporting the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of both patients and their families. We prioritize building strong relationships and promoting advocacy within the interdisciplinary care team to ensure the best possible outcomes for those we serve. 5G offers a fast-paced environment where team members can gain valuable knowledge and experience while working with a diverse and complex patient population. Our staff collaborates with world-renowned trauma and neurosurgeons, as well as a wide range of skilled neurologists and internists, to provide optimal care for our patients.

Purpose:

The Patient & Family Concierge provides compassionate service and support to patients, families, and visitors, ensuring a top-notch experience during their hospital stay. The role includes assisting with coordination of patient and visitor destinations, environmental services, dietary needs, transport, and supply management, while prioritizing satisfaction and quality care throughout.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a range of services to ensure a positive experience for patients, families, and visitors.

  • Greet and escort patients and visitors, coordinate directions, and offer assistance with parking and patient belongings.

  • Clean and organize patient rooms, public areas, and equipment while ensuring maintenance issues are reported.

  • Assist with dietary services by delivering meals, maintaining food safety, and ensuring sanitation.

  • Manage patient transportation, supply delivery, and equipment inventory, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Answer phones, respond to call lights, and interact with patients to assess needs.

  • Follow infection control procedures.

  • Maintain a positive, compassionate approach to all interactions.

  • Perform in accordance with all other system-wide competencies/behaviors.

  • Must possess a strong desire, drive, and compassion to deliver an outstanding patient and family experience at all times.

  • A High School diploma, active enrollment in a High School/GED program, or one year of relevant job experience in lieu of a diploma/GED is required.

  • Previous experience in healthcare or customer service is preferred but not required.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
