University of Pittsburgh Part-Time Language Instructor of Amharic in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Pending budgetary approval, The Less-Commonly-Taught-Languages Center in the University of Pittsburgh's Department of Linguistics seeks a non-tenure-stream Part-Time Instructor of Amharic to teach courses in that language for the Fall semester 2024 and Spring Semester 2025. Fall classes start on August 26, 2024. The position is expected to continue for the 2025-2026 school year fall and spring semesters.

Minimum Requirements:

A master's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Amharic Language Pedagogy, Linguistics, Foreign Language Pedagogy, or a related field;

Two 2 years of experience in teaching Amharic at the college level;

Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching as well as advanced or superior level proficiency in Amharic speaking/listening and reading/writing and a strong command of English;

The applicant does not have to live in Pittsburgh as remote teaching is an option, but in-person instruction is preferred.
