UPMC Occupational Health Nurse Coordinator I (RN) - St. Margaret in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
UPMC Health Plan is hiring a full-time Occupational Health Nurse Coordinator I to support the Employee Health Assistance team. This role will predominantly work Monday through Friday standard daylight hours, with occasional coverage to support flu clinics as needed.
The Employee Health Services Coordinator acts as a site specific leader for all Employee Health, and MyHealth@Work functions for a specific location. This position has responsibilities for both provision of direct care for the staff members plus all other administrative duties required to support employee health / MyHealth activities at a particular location. Responsible for managing all aspects of an Employee Health site program, which may include oversight of clinic support staff. Must be able to communicate with leadership, coordinate as needed with other UPMC departments and ensure all Employee Health tasks are completed appropriately.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for all site-specific employee health / MyHealth activities including program regulatory compliance, department reporting, and participation/contributions to relevant facility committees (i.e. Safety, Infection Control, etc.).
Orchestrates and coordinates services for the facility including TB screening, vaccination programs, and exposure management.
Knowledge of ADA and EEOC guidelines as they relate to the pre-placement medical evaluation process.
Coordinate clinic efforts to ensure compliance with legislative bodies (i.e. JCAHO, Department of Health, etc.).
Ensures appropriate coverage for clinic operations.
Coordinates pre-placement evaluations on new hires. This includes reviewing the questionnaires and coordinating any clinical laboratory services performed (i.e. TB skin testing, phlebotomy immunizations, etc.).
Assists in the provision of MyHealth@Work services which include but are not limited to: Obtaining vital signs, reviewing medication history, assisting provider with medical treatments, using telehealth equipment where applicable, and engaging staff regarding appropriate lifestyle, condition management programs, health promotion activities, and other available services.
Assist in the coordination of medical surveillance programs. Examples of these programs include TB skin testing programs, respiratory protection programs and specific exposure-related testing and/or surveillance initiatives.
Input data and tests, including all services provided, into the employee health software database program for coordination and tracking.
Performs phlebotomy, substance abuse testing, and immunizations (IM, Sub Q, Intradermal), and other medical testing.
Ensures compliance with appropriate testing policies and procedures pertaining to TB testing, vaccinations, and medical interventions.
Orchestrates complete and appropriate interventions, treatment and follow up care for staff infectious disease exposures and/or Bloodborne pathogen exposures. This includes managing exposure evaluations and follow-up treatment.
Coordinates services rendered to appropriate departments for OSHA reporting and documentation.
Evaluates laboratory results and initiates appropriate interventions and/or notifications.
Provides education and counseling to staff throughout the evaluation and treatment process.
Coordinates employee health efforts and acts as a liaison with various departments as needed, including for example: Human Resources, Infection Control, Safety and Facility Administration.
Maintains confidentiality of all medical information, and documents interventions and treatment in the appropriate database / medical record system. Assists with efforts and interventions to ensure regulatory compliance (i.e. JCAHO, Department of Health, OSHA, etc.)
Supports quality improvement, cost containment, and customer service-oriented initiatives of the organization.
Registered Nurse with current Pennsylvania licensure
Minimum 3 yrs. clinical experience.
BSN, or equivalent professional and/or educational experience.
Previous occupational medicine/employee health experience preferred, but not required.
Good organizational and computer skills preferred. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Registered Nurse (RN)

*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
