DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: IT Manager collaborates with customers, staff members, IT colleagues, and other partners to define customer requirements, assess available technologies, and develop and present viable IT solutions. They have responsibility for mentoring, career development planning, and direct supervision of personnel. They possess knowledge of various business processes used by systems applications and can recommend strategies and tactics to satisfy customer needs. They participate in the business support planning process. This would include evaluating application software packages and recommending the best fit solution. Responsible for product delivery, which requires a clear understanding of expectations and capabilities of their team. They are required to work and communicate efficiently with personnel at all levels within the organization. They work with the IT and Business functions to define annual IT initiatives that will support their strategic objectives. They are often designated as software custodians and are to lead the implementing PPG's internal IT control policies.

Key Responsibilities * Contribute to the achievement of business unit objectives by effectively leading the implementation and support of IT systems through the successful implementation of project plans * Prioritize resources and tasks, develop contingency plans, control scope, monitor progress, control project plans, lead project financials and provide management feedback * Directly supervise and mentor project team members, conduct performance evaluations, and lead career development for direct reports * Delegate responsibility to others, set team priorities, resolve conflict, and foster a collaborative team environment to fulfill the department's operating objectives * Perform feasibility studies, translate requirements into appropriate designs, formulate and define application scope and objectives, prepare high-level proposals or detailed specifications from which applications will be developed, and implement complete solutions * Maintain awareness of current IT projects across PPG and planned projects in their own group to align to IT strategy and unlock commonalities between projects

Qualifications * A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Chemistry, a related subject area, or equivalent work experience and technical training. * Greater than 5 years of IT experience in business application design and systems development, including implementation of IT systems * Good project management skills, including defining, organizing, planning, and completing projects from vision through implementation * A deep understanding of IT concepts, terminology, and practical application of current and emerging technologies * Knowledge in extensive range of architectures, analytical and design techniques, database technologies, and programming languages * Demonstrable ability to design applications using the appropriate systems architecture, database structures, and communication and network technologies * Good interpersonal ability while being able to supervise personnel
