Laboratory Research Technician

The Laboratory Research Technician will be responsible for performing basic molecular biology, cell biology and physiology experiments including, but not limited to: cell culture, PCR, Western blot immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence and whole animal genetic and physiology/pharmacology experiments. the incumbent will also be responsible for care of various animal models and therefore must be comfortable working with live animals. The successful candidate will also be responsible for assisting the laboratory manager with maintaining supplies, preparing stock solutions and directing student workers. The position requires a bachelor's degree in a science related field (biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, etc.), or at least 1-year relevant experience in a biological or medial research setting.

Job Summary

 

Performs a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures. Prepares specimens. Oversees supply management. Operates and properly maintains equipment.

 

Essential Functions

Computer work; walking from place to place; standing and sitting to perform essential tasks. Good manual dexterity.

Physical Effort

Lifting and stacking of boxes of supplies, standing for extended periods required to fulfill workload.
