Laboratory Research Tech IV Job Summary
Performs a variety of independent and complex laboratory work and experiments. Analyzes and interprets data, compiles results, and prepares reports. Maintains inventory, ordering, and logs. Writes manuscripts and grant proposals and prepares data visualizations.
Essential Functions
The University of Pittsburgh Department of Neurological Surgery is recruiting for a Laboratory Research Technician. This position will conduct research on projects in the Friedlander lab. Independent contributions to all laboratory activities including surgical, behavioral, and wet lab functions are the responsibility of this role. The incumbent will play an independent role in both executing and contributing to experimental design using in vitro and in vivo studies of neurodegeneration. Primary responsibilities including preparing cell and tissue lysates then protein and other biochemical analysis of samples. The general duties include maintenance of the lab clean, wash instruments; maintenance of equipment centifuges, cold room, cell culture hoods and incubators, etc.; miscellaneous pick-up/delivery of incoming shipment of equipment, animals, supplies, etc; and computer data entry. This position will collaborate with other laboratories and core facilities at the University. Management of animal assignment to specific protocols is the responsibility of this role; as well as ensuring all lab requirements are met through DLAR, EHS, and all other regulatory bodies. Additional experience can be substituted for education.
Minimum education to be considered for this position is a Bachelor of Science.
