The University of Pittsburgh School of Law invites applications for the Barco Law Library Director position. We seek to hire a new director to join the Law Faculty as an Associate or Full Professor, ranked in either the tenure stream or appointment stream, depending on qualifications or preference. Pitt Law seeks an energetic and innovative Director who has a proven track record of successfully overseeing all aspects of library operations, including, but not limited to, strategic planning, growth, and development of resources and technology, including management of the library budget, legal research teaching, monitoring library services and programs and supervision of staff. The Director works collaboratively with the University Library System and the Health Sciences Library. We also seek candidates with knowledge of and experience with emerging information technology. The Director reports to the Dean and is expected to teach either first-year and/or required upper-level law courses. Required qualifications include a J.D. degree from an accredited law school or an equivalent advanced law degree and an M.L.S. (or equivalent) from an ALA-accredited program.

Applicants are strongly urged to submit by July 31, 2024, after which the committee will review applications. Please indicate your interest in whether you are seeking the tenure-stream or appointment-stream. Tenure-stream means having substantial experience in teaching and research and showing a capacity and will to maintain teaching effectiveness, ability for continued growth as a teacher and scholar, and evidence of having progressed in attaining eminence in a scholarly field. Appointment-stream is defined as possessing special skills contributing substantially to the mission of the University without expectations to perform the same range of duties of a tenure-stream member of the faculty.
