Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) Controllership is a new team within the Thermo Fisher Scientific Corporate Financial Reporting function. Reporting to the ESG Controller, you will demonstrate Workiva and other capabilities to help ensure the accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of external ESG report delivery. This role requires strong expertise in financial and regulatory and reporting frameworks, with familiarity or curiosity about ESG and other non-financial compliance reporting. As you will collaborate with subject matter authorities in a cross-functional and matrixed organization, you will display outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.

What Will You Do?

Be responsible for the composition and submission of external ESG related reports, regulatory filings and disclosures, ensuring alignment with industry standards and legal requirements. Lead reporting timelines to ensure deliverables meet internal and external requirements while driving continuous improvement in ESG data reporting processes and data management. This role will serve as a Workiva subject matter authority, demonstrating the capability to optimize the tool for collecting data and reporting across multiple collaborator groups.

Develop expertise on ESG trends, frameworks, and regulatory requirements to help advise operational plans, reporting philosophies, and metrics. Serve as the data subject matter authority for ESG and other compliance reporting matters, helping ensure that functional data adheres to regulatory and ESG policy requirements. In addition, you will:

  • Support in the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems for collecting, verifying, and analyzing ESG data.

  • Provide training and support to cross-functional team members on Workiva’s tools and features.

  • Support the ESG Controller and other finance teams to complete external assurance and auditor reviews of reports.

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree required preferably in Business, Finance, Accounting, or Information Systems

  • CPA (or equivalent), active or inactive license desired

  • 5+ years of accounting or financial reporting experience, preferably with sophisticated, multinational enterprises is required

  • Experience with US GAAP, SEC, or other regulatory reporting is required

  • Experience applying internal controls over financial and/or regulatory reporting is required

  • Experience using Workiva for report preparation and submission is helpful

  • Proven understanding with the ESG reporting regimes is preferred

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong project management skills

  • Experience with Workiva platform, financial reporting systems, and reporting tools

  • Outstanding analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Capable of collaborating with diverse global teams

  • Self-motivated with a bias for action

Travel Requirements:

  • Less than 25% domestic/international travel required

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $103,100.00–$154,700.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
