Employment Development Specialist Employment Development Specialist

As the Employment Development Specialist, the position supports employer relationships, coordinates events, and provides administrative assistance. The role actively engages in record tracking, reporting, and contributes to the ranking processes, ensures the continuous improvement of graduate education initiatives.

  1. Employer Relations Support: 40%
  • Assist the Associate Director in cultivating and maintaining relationships with recruiters and employers, serving as a crucial support in fostering and maintaining meaningful partnerships with the purpose of arranging, continuing, and improving job opportunities and immersion experiences for students.
  • Collaborate closely with the Programs Team to coordinate and execute events, ensuring seamless interaction between students and potential employers.
  • Serve as point of contact for employers during visits.
  • Provide essential administrative support to enhance the efficiency of employer engagement activities.
  • Coordinates and conducts existing outreach activities with other University departments, employers, students, and personnel.
  • Assist with sourcing jobs and loading into internal systems e.g., Canvas, Handshake as well as external outlets such as social media.
  1. Program Improvement and Rankings Support: 40%
  • Execute and maintain systems for collecting, tracking, and analyzing data related to student placement, employer engagement, and program effectiveness.

  • Generate regular reports and analyses to offer insights into key performance metrics, including placement rates, employer satisfaction, and event attendance and impact.

  • Assist in internal reviews of program effectiveness, working closely with admissions, academic, programming, and career services teams to provide accurate data and insights for continuous improvement.
  • Support the development and maintenance of ranking submissions by providing timely and accurate data on student outcomes, employer satisfaction, and other relevant metrics.
  • Conducts research and prepares reports as directed. Stays current with recent trends, resources, and research as it relates to career services.
  • Serves as a point of contact for one or more departments and academic units to support the career center's engagement. Gathers and disseminates career information concerning the application and implementation of all functions of the career development and recruitment programs.
  1. Other projects 15%
  • Maintains and updates existing resources and service documentation for students, employers, and alumni.
  • Support the execution of large-scale graduate education events such as case competitions/hackathons, orientations, and prospective student events.
  • Assists with day-to-day operations or processes of an administrative function in the unit.
  1. Other duties as assigned 5%

Job Summary

Provides group and individual student coaching to foster professional development based upon updated market research and trends. Acts as resource and maintains network of professional external and University contacts to introduce student career opportunities. Promotes the career center and drives outreach. Serves to help with day-today administrative functions of the unit.
