Director of Development, Arts and Sciences

 

The Division of Philanthropic & Alumni Engagement (PAE) at the University of Pittsburgh is dedicated to fostering meaningful relationships with donors, alumni, and stakeholders, supporting the University's mission in education, research, and healthcare. We invite you to become a pivotal part of our team as the Director of Development -- Arts and Sciences.

In this role, you will serve as the integral part within PAE's Individual Giving, Schools and Centers department, reporting to the Executive Director of Development.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and enhance fundraising efforts across DSAS and CGS, collaborating closely with the Executive Director, Dean, and other stakeholders.
  • Implement fundraising strategies for major gifts ($100K+), involving personal contact with prospects and coordination with faculty, volunteers, and staff.
  • Oversee the preparation of solicitations, proposals, correspondence, stewardship, and other development-related communications.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the central major gifts team.
  • Supervise assigned staff and lead donor relations and stewardship programs for DSAS and CGS.

Job Summary

Oversees development of a program, plans, and activities to create and execute a comprehensive development plan achieving new and recurring contributions to a school, foundation, program, and/or group. Manages a portfolio of major gift donors and strategically builds fundraising prospects. Assists leadership in facilitating a comprehensive communications plan and with development strategies.

Essential Functions

  • Create and implement fundraising strategies by maintaining personal contact with prospects, involving the Dean, faculty, volunteers, and staff as required, and developing and implementing fundraising strategies for qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of prospects for individual major gifts for the school.
  • Contribute to the School's annual fundraising plan.
  • Manage the school's stewardship team and other direct reports to help them achieve their individual and collective goals.
  • Must be able to travel.

Physical Effort

  • Little physical effort required.
  • Duties are primarily sedentary.
  • May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Hiring Range: $95,000-$115,000 annual
