UPMC Director of Allied Health Schools at UPMC in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Purpose:

This individual will be responsible for the management, quality effectiveness, performance outcomes and successful delivery of academic health sciences, specifically within allied health, programs at UPMC. This includes program accreditation and industry regulation.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct oversight of individual school directors/staff; work collaboratively to ensure day to day operations are met, staffing levels, regulatory components, growth, outcomes, and recruitment/admissions are met for each program.

  • Coordination with academic partners and stakeholders, such as vice president service line leaders at UPMC who interact and partner with our schools.

  • Ensuring clinical rotations are secured with a great clinical experience that provides the student with a quality foundation in their future allied health care profession.

  • Responsible for the management, monitoring, quality, and overall successful delivery of the programs across the UPMC enterprise.

  • Implementing strategies to enhance program effectiveness.

  • Ensuring student success is a priority with enhanced engagement.

  • Facilitating collaboration among workgroups and initiatives across the system to increase communication and collaboration to foster future pipeline and workforce needs.

  • Focus on strategic planning for future school development and growth to feed the current workforce development plans and community/organizational needs.

  • Focusing on structural and social determinants impacting students. Monitoring budget and grant funding as necessary to provide enhanced opportunities, such as, state approved apprenticeship programs.

  • Assists in selection of faculty, selecting best candidates based on content expertise.

  • Ensures schools maintain standard and has a process to look at curriculum, quality, policies, standards, faculty development on an annual basis to meet new accreditation standards and best practices within their area of specialty.

  • Development annual goals and outcomes for each school to meet and sustain accountability across schools.

  • Monitors student success, retention, support and advising accordingly to meet the needs of every student.

  • Evaluates the effectiveness of all program outcomes, including statistics relevant to students entering programs of study.

  • Actively seeks opportunities to improve financial outcomes while maintaining expenses within each school. Establish annual financial goals and actively uses benchmarking to high performing systems.

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.

  • 5 years of work experience (teaching or leadership) in academia required.

  • 3 years of work experience specifically within a health services area, preferably allied health, required. Leadership experience in this area preferred.

  • Excellent writing and communication skills required.

  • Curriculum development experience preferred

  • Travel across the UPMC system will be required as an on-site presence within each program and hospital is essential. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 33 with renewal

  • Act 34 with renewal

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
