UPMC Decision Support System Coordinator in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

UPMC Corporate is hiring a Decision Support System Coordinator to join our Payor Contract Team! This role will work Monday through Friday during business hours. The position will be a hybrid role with work from home and on site days. Under minimal supervision, the role is responsible for providing financial systems support for UPMC user of Payor Contract Services applications. This position will participate in the system maintenance, support, development; upgrade activities, and integrations. As well as assisting and educating other Payor Contract Services staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Resolve and document application support issues with UPMC ISD and/or vendor staff. Participate in the UPMC Project Management initiatives involving the system as necessitated.

  • Ensure system data integrity via developing, performing/leading audits and reconciliation processes. Prepare and maintain the appropriate level of documentation of system procedures.

  • Develop a working knowledge of source systems for the contract modeling system or other systems that are utilized by the department, e.g. Medipac, EPIC, Cognos etc.

  • Perform departmental analytical projects as requested.

  • Lead and train others on specific uses of the system such as reporting. Provide pre and post support for specific vendor training of the application for new staff and existing staff on an ongoing basis.

  • Develop and maintain an expert level of functional knowledge of the PCS department specific contract modeling software including the department operational use of the system to support hospital and physician contract negotiations. Participate in or lead, as required, system implementation plans and processes, patch and upgrade applications and the integration of new data elements such as cost. Participate in the evaluation of alternative systems as necessitated.

  • Lead the PCS reporting team initiative which may include obtaining data from other system sources/business segments for all inclusive book of business trend reporting.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, or related business field.

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in healthcare managed care and/or health care insurance provider contracting.

  • MBA or equivalent preferred.

  • Comprehensive understanding of healthcare terminology, insurance contract language and hospital/professional payment methodologies, including a good understanding of Medicare and PA Medicaid reimbursement.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Crystal and Cognos.

  • Familiarity with Word and Access preferred.

  • Must have strong systems aptitude and solid analytical skills.

  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills

  • Must be an effective team player.

  • Must have the ability to lead and train others.

  • Individual must possess problem solving and decision making skills to follow issues through resolution.

  • Participate in system upgrade, integrations, implementation and maintenance activities.

  • Work well in a team environment with minimal direct supervision and a good understanding of project management.
