UPMC Crisis Clinician Associate, I and II - Child and Adolescent Crisis Team in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Resolve Crisis Services is looking for Crisis Clinicians to join our Child and Adolescent Crisis Team Intervention Services (CACTIS) team! Resolve Crisis Services is a partnership between Allegheny County and UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital providing support services to residents of Allegheny County 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. CACTIS provides crisis intervention and supplementary support in the home, school, and community to children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral issues.

Crisis Clinician levels from Associate, Clin I and Clin II will be considered for this role. The title and pay rate (minimum rate for Associate is $20.52, Clinician I is $23.61, Clinician II is $24.78)) for these positions may vary depending on education level and years of experience.

All candidates must be able to work varying shifts: daylight, evening, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Sign On Bonus eligible

$3,500 with a 2 year commitment or $5,000 with a 3 year commitment

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to mobile crisis calls in Allegheny County by answering questions, obtaining clinical information, scheduling outpatient evaluations, responding to telephone crises, and documenting these activities.

  • Manage shift caseload with guidance from Lead Clinician.

  • Develop skills in assessment, de-escalation, documentation, and motivational interviewing.

  • Provide supportive counseling using a person-centered, strength-based approach.

  • Support consumers and arrange referrals.

  • Consult with Clinician II for disposition plans.

  • Advocate for Crisis Residential program admissions and encourage Walk-In program use.

  • Conduct face-to-face crisis assessments and respond to calls.

  • Manage crises with positive approaches.

  • Participate in trainings, staff meetings, and case reviews.

  • Support therapeutic milieu and ensure safety.

Crisis Clinician Associate:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work.

Other fields of study may be considered with coursework of at least 12 credits in human services and/or relevant mental health experience

  • Consistent ability to respond calmly and effectively, using good clinical judgment to both psychiatric and medical emergencies.

  • Recovery-oriented interpersonal relations.

  • Ability to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and to assume on call responsibilities.

Crisis Clinician I:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work with one (1) year mental health direct care experience.

OR

  • Master's Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work and no experience.

Other fields of study may be considered with coursework of at least 12 credits in human services and/or relevant mental health experience

  • Includes phone triaging, as well as an in-depth knowledge and proven skill at doing psychiatric assessments.

  • Experience in mental health crisis intervention, case management, or in-home therapy preferred.

  • Excellent, recovery-oriented interpersonal relations.

  • Ability to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and to assume on call responsibilities.

Crisis Clinician II:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work with two (2) years mental health direct care experience with one (1) year crisis experience.

OR

  • Master's Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work with one (1) year mental health direct care experience.

Other fields of study may be considered with coursework of at least 12 credits in human services and/or relevant mental health experience

  • Work history that includes phone triage, as well as an in-depth knowledge and proven skill at doing psychiatric assessments.

  • Experience in mental health crisis intervention, case management, or in-home therapy preferred.

  • Excellent, recovery-oriented interpersonal relations

  • Licensure in social work or professional counseling is preferred.

  • Ability to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and to assume on call responsibilities.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • CCM training is required within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)

  • Drivers License

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting

  • Act 33 with renewal

  • Act 34 with renewal

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance

  • OAPSA
