Clinical Research Technician
The School of Pharmacy (Pitt Pharmacy) is a leader and innovator in research, education, and practice, is one of 16 schools/colleges located on the Oakland campus, which includes the six schools of the health sciences. The incumbent will actively contribute to active clinical trials and research focused on accelerating the implementation of precision medicine into healthcare. The Pittsburgh Pharmacogenomics (PittPGx) program and PGx Center of Excellence is an NIH-funded team that conducts translational research aimed at understanding variation in drug response to individualize prescribing to achieve optimal medication outcomes for all.
Job Summary
Conducts laboratory experiments, intermediate-level tests, and a variety of scientific tasks. Performs data and specimen collection and processing as well as equipment maintenance and set up. Ensures adherence to all established protocols and regulatory practices.
Essential Functions
Conducts laboratory experiments in a research setting. Performs intermediate-level testing. Supports research studies and experiments, including data collection, specimen collection and processing, equipment set up, and maintenance of equipment. Adheres to all established protocols and regulatory practices. Performs a variety of scientific tasks, including testing, examinations of research subjects, data analysis and interpretation, and operates standard laboratory equipment. Records data providing analysis and interpretations in an accurate and timely manner. Maintains databases. Recruits, screens, and enrolls research participants. Follows up with study participants to schedule appointments and maintain study retention. Reviews participants' medical records, collects and codes surveys, and verifies active status for participants.
Physical Effort
Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
