Clinical Research Coordinator II

 

The University of Pittsburgh Department of Occupational Therapy is seeking a research specialist who will work on a study of women with breast cancer. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting research assessments on study participants, including blood draws if necessary (training provided). They will assist with and adhere to study protocols including managing Institutional Review Board protocols under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. They will also assist in training and mentoring staff and student workers on research-related procedures. The coordinator will be responsible for overall study coordination in the lab and ensure fidelity to protocols. Other duties include conducting participant recruitment through scheduling, leading community recruitment events, following u with referrals, screening potential participants, and obtaining informed consent. To complete these tasks, knowledge of study inclusion and exclusion criteria, study procedures, confidentiality, and possible risks to participants is required. There will be travel within the broader Pittsburgh community to recruitment sites and to deliver intervention materials as needed. This position provides flexibility in scheduling work hours as rates of recruitment span and fluctuate over the calendar year and participant recruitment may need to occur outside of office hours. The coordinator must be able to work independently while exhibiting a level of judgement that ensures participant safety and adherence to study protocols and procedures. Additional education and/or experience essential to this position include access to vehicle for travel in greater Pittsburgh community and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Job Summary
