Job Description :
West Penn Allegheny Health System, Inc. seeks a Chaplain to work at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, to provide and coordinate pastoral care to patients, families, and employees, including direct client contact with the provision of sacramental support, pastoral counseling, and/or referral to community religious resources. Will also interface with the clinical staff with the provision of spiritual assessments, patient care plans, and consultations inclusive of those in need of support in end of life decision-making.
Must have a master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Theology, Divinity, Healthcare Ethics, or a related field plus two (2) years of experience in a related position in parish ministry or its equivalent, or in institutional spiritual care, such as campus ministry, retreat ministry, military or long-term facilities, hospice, or hospital chaplaincy.
Must also have: (i) Roman Catholic Priest faculties to perform the Sacraments of the Roman Catholic Church; (ii) completion of at least four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE); and (iii) Certification or work towards Certification by the National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), the World Spiritual Health Organization (WSHO) or the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC).
Must also be able to: (i) identify individuals whose religious and spiritual conflicts may compromise recovery or satisfactory adjustment; (ii) assess the spiritual, emotional and religious needs of patients, families and staff by utilizing a spiritual assessment tool; and (iii) provide 24/7 coverage to respond to the spiritual, religious and emotional needs of the Catholic patients, families and staff by participating in on-call day and night rotation coverage that has been implemented by the Spiritual Care Department.
