Assistant Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds

Requirements:

o High School Diploma/GED or Certificate After High School

o Minimum three years of relevant experience

o Valid Driver's License to operate company vehicle and equipment.

o Successful completion of all required background checks, physical (as required by the PA Department of Education), TB test, professional/personal reference checks and any applicable pre- employment requirements of the position.

Objective:

Provide assistance to the Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds with mechanical and electrical systems, boilers, air-conditioning equipment, plumbing systems, building cleaning equipment and procedures, kitchen equipment, roof maintenance, scheduling procedures and preventative maintenance. To provide support in maintaining operational excellence, cleanliness, and safety for the maximum welfare of students, staff and others in the building and on the grounds.

Essential Functions:

Operation and Maintenance of Plant

  1. Aides in appropriate maintenance, grounds keeping, security and custodial requirements for the school.

  2. Serves as the secondary contact for emergency calls including fire and burglar alarms and responds to calls as necessary.

  3. Follows the design, organization and implementation of the preventative maintenance program.

  4. Assists with ensuring compliance with all applicable laws is maintained at a minimum standard.

  5. Conducts periodic inspections of the building and grounds and provides the Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds with recommendations for necessary maintenance.

  6. Performs minor repairs in the areas of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, drywall and other areas as may be needed from time to time.

  7. Works in concert with the Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds and support team to provide support to the operations of the organization.

  8. Assists with maintaining appropriate filing systems for the operation of the maintenance office as directed by supervisor.

  9. Performs custodial duties during the day as may be required or assigned by the Supervisor of Building & Grounds.

Professional Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains familiarity with Pace policies and procedures, and complies with established employment procedures (i.e., use of sick leave, dress code, use of personal cell phone, Internet and email acceptable user policies).

  2. Participates in professional development goal setting and annual summative evaluation with supervisor according to established procedures and timelines.

  3. Actively participates in continuing professional development activities for staff.

  4. Interacts with others in a professional manner that demonstrates understanding of the Sanctuary® Model.

  5. Actively participates on, and/or serves as chair of, a school-wide committee that impacts school-wide programming, as assigned or requested.

  6. Performs other duties or responsibilities as may be assigned by supervisor.
