The Assistant Director of Student Financial Aid, reporting to the Associate Director of Student Financial Aid oversees the origination, application management, and disbursement of Federal Student, State, and Institutional Aid. The Assistant Director establishes procedures and guidelines to ensure the smooth operation of aid processing. The role also manages a caseload of student applications and the resolution of institutional reviews, federal verification, conflicting information, and C-Flag rejects.

As a member of the management team for the Student Financial Aid Office, the Assistant Director collaborates with colleagues in the Enrollment Management division and across campus.

Core Responsibilities:

Originations and Certifications: Processes originations for both the Federal Direct Loan and Private Loan programs. Reviews, troubleshoots, and resolves data discrepancies to ensure timely processing of all awards. Case Management: Reviews individual student cases to ensure accuracy and compliance with all federal and institutional regulations and policies. This review involves verifying tax information, and other necessary supporting documentation gathered through the financial aid application process (Institutional Review and Federal Verification). Disbursement: Runs disbursement process for all awards. Reviews and resolves disbursement discrepancies. Notifies students of Federal Loan disbursement. Operational Oversight: As a member of the student financial aid team, actively participates in office operations, function, and systems. Provides status update reports and statistical analysis, as appropriate. Customer Service: Works directly with Enrollment Services staff, students, parents, and campus constituents, as needed. Provides clear and concise responses to all inquiries. Other Duties as Assigned: Manages or leads special projects as requested by the Associate Director of Student Financial Aid. (Examples, Imports COD Response files, Yellow Ribbon Aid processing, notifies students of Exit Counseling requirements, maintains and updates Scholarnet site, prepares documents for Institutional Loan Processing).

Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree required. 2 to 4 years of direct and progressively-responsible experience in accounting or enrollment, ideally within a financial aid environment. A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in business, higher education administration, education training or similar field. More than 3 years of directly related financial aid experience, preferably at a high select private research university.

Additional Information: This position will require the ability to travel to other campus locations. Weekend and evening hours may be required.
