SHI Integration Center Service & HLM Technician in Piscataway, New Jersey

Job Summary

An HLM Integration Center Service & HLM (Hardware Lifecycle Management) Technician is an experienced/certified technician working with other integration personnel in our Ridge facility. This Technician will work on various OEM computer systems and technologies servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing customer assets both within and outside of warranty.

This position reports to the Service & Repair Technical Manager and is performed at our SHI (Ridge) Piscataway, NJ office location.

Responsibilities

Include but not limited to:

  • System Imaging – OEM Operating Systems

  • Computer hardware troubleshooting, data erasure, and repair (including but not limited to memory, hard drives, and NICs)

  • Data entry into AX (Microsoft Dynamics) for receiving hardware, order tracking, check in/out, asset information recording, etc

  • Perform inventory lifecycle processing including receiving, quarantine of assets as required, staging for data erasure, system processing for completed devices, picking, and shipping

  • Perform inventory analysis to assist HLM managers with inventory challenges

  • Maintain knowledge of order processing software (i.e. PackShip, AX, etc.)

  • Communicate and escalate to management on a regular basis regarding customer orders and issues that may arise during the processing procedures

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships to complete accurate and timely delivery of each assigned task

  • Explain, deliver, and communicate technical information such as networking information, system errors, and OS configurations in a clear and concise fashion

  • Unpacking, packing, and kitting of hardware and components

  • Independently acquire additional skills to maintain technical competencies

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, develop and execute documented depot services as required

  • Coordinate customer advanced exchange orders

  • Flexibility to move between projects and tasks as required

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, IT, Computer systems Networking, Computer Systems Analysis, successful completion of accredited trade school computer training program or relevant work experience required

  • 2 years of working experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting IT Hardware

  • Ability to explain technical information such as networking information, system errors, and OS configurations

  • Understanding of operating systems, boot processes and troubleshooting (Dell, Apple, HP, Lenovo, Cisco, etc...)

  • Ability to read and interpret technical instructions/manuals, troubleshooting guides, and manufacturer specifications

  • Ability to learn additional skills to maintain technical competencies

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Dynamics AX

  • Microsoft Office applications

  • Microsoft Office SharePoint

  • Familiarity with data erasure software and techniques

  • Experience installing, troubleshooting and diagnosing issues with end-user computer devices and peripherals

  • Experience with UPS, FedEx, DHL and 3rd party shipping software

  • Break fix/Warranty repair certifications with OEMs (Apple, Dell, HP, Lenovo)

  • Knowledge of SHI Warehouse structure and SHI Configuration services is a plus

  • Experience working for a VAR or IT Services organization as a computer hardware technician

Certifications Required

If at least one certification is not currently held the successful candidate will be required to obtain one of the certifications within 6 months of commencing the role:

Preferred

  • CompTIA A Unique Requirements

  • Position requires the ability to move or lift up to 50lbs

Additional Information

  • The estimated annual pay range for this position is $44,000 - $70,000. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
