Location:Campus Police

Shift: 7:00AM -7:00PM or 7:00PM – 7:00AM Pass Days: Team A or B

This position receives hazard duty pay of $ 2.00 per hour.

POLICE OFFICER 1: $16.83hr.-$30.30hr.

POLICE OFFICER 2: $18.01hr.-$32.42hr.

THIS JOB IS IN A CAREER PROGRESSION GROUP AND MAY BE FILLED AT A HIGHER LEVEL.

This position may be filled byDetail to Special Duty, Probation, Promotion, Demotion, or Lateral Transfer. Preference may be given to permanent classified employees of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center.

As part of aCareer Progression Group,vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as aPolice Officer 1 or 2 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant. The maximum salary for thePolice Officer 2 is $67,434. Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

No experience or training is required.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have attained eighteenth birthday at time of appointment.

An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

May be required to possess a valid Louisiana driver's license at time of appointment.

May be required to complete a Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) course.

May be required to qualify annually with a firearm.

For some positions, applicant must be eligible for bond.

Job Concepts

FUNCTION OF WORK:

To protect lives and property by conducting foot and mobile security patrols, enforcing parking and traffic regulations, rendering emergency services, investigating minor crimes, and making arrests when necessary. Provides a limited range of police services.

LEVEL OF WORK:

Entry.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

General from a higher-level police official. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

None.

LOCATION OF WORK:

Statewide.

Differs from Police Officer 2 by the absence of experienced level duties.
