Indian Health Service Custodial Worker in Pine Ridge, South Dakota
Summary This position is located in the Housekeeping Department of the Pine Ridge Service Unit. The incumbent may rotate hours of duty, including different shifts, weekends, and holiday duty. The incumbent will be cross-trained to work in several areas throughout the Service Unit. The position reports to the Work Leader in charge or Supervisor of the Department. Responsibilities Cleans patient rooms, bathrooms, public restrooms, operating rooms, labor/delivery, exam rooms, halls, walls, floors, furnishings, equipment, windows, offices. Plans and coordinate daily work tasks with supervisor. Stocks areas with supplies, linen and required chemicals. Inspects, sorts, folds, counts, stores, and distributes clean linen per standard protocol. Vacuums, sweeps, mops floor and maintains floors such as stripping and waxing and shampooing carpets. Employee works inside in a health care environment which involves the use of heavy equipment, cleaning chemicals and special procedures for infection control. Exposure to contagious disease, fumes or airbone particles is possible. Protective equipment may be needed - gloves, mask, suits. Physical Effort is required: Frequently stands and walks in performing duties. Frequently lifts and/or moves items up to 25 pounds. Occasionally lifts and/or moves items or equipment up to 50 pounds. Background Investigation: If you are selected for this vacancy, you must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint check and background investigation. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit.
