U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command Electrician in Pine Bluff Arsenal, Arkansas

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as an Electrician at Pine Bluff Arsenal, Arkansas. Responsibilities Diagnose equipment failures. Investigate operating complaints by checking the values of voltage, current time, resistance, impedance, capacitance, speed, and temperature. Serve as stand-by electrician on munitions manufacturing lines. Perform maintenance on electrical control systems, special circuits, and control apparatus. Check lightning protection and grounding systems for conductance values and for continuity. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electrician without more than normal supervision. Perform common repairs to electrical systems. Must have experience with circuits, systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Installation, maintenance, and repair require a considerable amount of work in very cramped quarters and often at high temperature and in the presence of disagreeable fumes. Work involves reaching, lifting, and bending while using hand and powered tools. Weight lifted rarely exceeds 25 pounds but may on occasion reach 50 pounds. Employee is required to use personal protective equipment. Working Conditions: The work is done inside and outside, and is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy. The electrician is sometimes required to make repairs and installations outside in bad weather or extreme temperatures and in work areas that are noisy. He is occasionally exposed to the possibility of broken bones, electrical shock, and burns. He is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises. When working in production areas, employee is subjected to the possibility of hazards from toxic chemicals and explosives items. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. This position serves as an Electrician located at Pine Bluff Arsenal which is a subordinate installation of JMC.
