The mission of the Department of Corrections is to be a public safety resource for Arkansas families by providing professional management solutions and evidence-based rehabilitative initiatives for offenders.

All DOC positions are designated as Safety Sensitive Positions and are subject to random drug testing pursuant to the Secretarial Directive governing Personnel Drug Testing. Medical marijuana usage, as defined in Amendment 93 of the Arkansas Constitution, prohibits Personnel in a Safety-Sensitive Position from the use of medical marijuana even if they are qualifying patient under the amendment and/or hold a registry identification card. Department Personnel are prohibited from the use or possession of a medicinal marijuana card pursuant to this policy and state law.

Summary

The Arkansas Department of Corrections (ADC) Assistant Inmate Grievance Coordinator is responsible for analyzing and reviewing Inmate grievances from multiple units. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Functions

Interprets agency administrative directives, policies, and procedures. Investigate and analyze Inmate grievances from multiple units. Research, prepare, and organize written and oral reports. Review evidence and submit a response for review/signature to the Deputy Director. Maintain grievance files and reports of grievance outcomes and resolutions. Review and determine if grievances are to be acknowledged or rejected. Ensure all documentation is present for court proceedings. Assist and train Unit Grievance staff. Formulates responses by reviewing all evidence, including videos, witness statements, and documentation. Participates in policy committee meetings to provide input on needed revisions and changes to grievance policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus, three years of advanced training in criminal justice, police law enforcement, correction technology, or a related field. Experience in analyzing inmate grievances, reviewing documents, compiling reports, or a related field.
