Description
General Shale, the nation’s leading brick and masonry materials manufacturer, is seeking an Environmental Engineer to join our engineering team. Responsibilities will include:
Qualifications:
B.S. Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or other technically related discipline
5+ years of experience in the environmental or related field (preferably regulatory compliance related)
Self-motivated to work independently as well as constructive participation as a member of a team
Willing and able to travel as needed
Good working knowledge of computer programs (Office Suite plus state-specific and federal websites)
Willing and able to work in brick manufacturing plant settings
Activities and Responsibilities:
Interaction with brick manufacturing personnel on environmentally related issues (air, storm water, drinking water, mining, etc.)
Compiling data and completing environmentally related reports (both federal and state level)
Liaise with state regulatory agencies on behalf of the company
Liaise with environmental consultants on behalf of the company for environmental permit application development
Managing permit renewals and other time sensitive, environmentally related documents and plans
Update and maintain elements of the Environmental Management System
Training manufacturing personnel on the requirements set forth in the various environmental permits
