Job Title: Senior Buyer\ Location: Tempe, AZ 85218 (onsite position)
\ This position is responsible for the procurement of all raw material, equipment and consumable supplies\ from vendors. Moreover, they are responsible for RFQs, negotiating material costs, delivery dates and\ expedite fees. The candidate must be familiar with a variety of the fields concepts, practices, and\ procedures and rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Responsibilities:\ Analyze new material requirements and/or changes and procure parts or change delivery dates as\ directed by a MRP II business system.\ Responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors.\ Effectively resolves material delivery issues which may have a negative effect on the production\ schedule.\ Identify annual material cost savings opportunities and drive projects to realize those savings.\ Drive supplier accountability by communicating their quality and delivery performance monthly,\ through internal departmental reports.\ Update the business system to ensure unit price and lead times are current by part number.\ Find and qualify 2nd and 3rd sources for raw materials, in coordination with engineering, to mitigate\ supply chain disruptions and create competitive leveraging opportunities.\ Monitor and work with Engineering on part/supply obsolescence issues.\ Work with Quality team to assure effective root cause corrective action is taken by supplier on nonconforming products or services.\ Supply current material market pricing for product cost estimating purposes as needed.\ Utilize cost reduction measures to negotiate purchase price agreements and contracts with supplier\ representatives.
Requirements:\ Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or related degree, or equivalent\ experience\ Minimum 2 years of experience in Procurement\ Experience using ERP systems, specifically MRP Modules.\ Basic technical knowledge of procurement responsibilities\ Negotiation Skills Discreet order pricing and long-term agreements.\ Sourcing both direct and indirect materials.
Preferred Qualifications:\ 3+ years of work experience minimum.\ Experience using the Epicor ERP system.\ Experience using Kanban, VMI and other replenishment systems.\ Background in procurement of chemicals, electrical and mechanical components.\ Military/Aerospace experience is a plus.\ Physical Demands:\ Must be able to effectively listen, understand and speak with team members at all levels within a\ diverse workforce.\ Must be able to work extended hours to support business imperatives, including the occasional\ Saturday.\ Must be willing and able to visit local suppliers, and occasionally travel to non-local suppliers.\ Must be able to lift documents and work materials up to 50 pounds in weight.
