Virgin Galactic Production Planner in Phoenix, Arizona
Virgin Galactic is seeking a first rate, highly qualified Production Planner who will be responsible for materials planning, generation, and monitoring of the Production Schedule in order to achieve other items necessary to establish and operate the world’s first commercial manned spacecraft company. This person will maintain the production schedule with weekly updates, make real-time changes, and inform the stakeholders of any changes, while evaluating the feasibility of those recommended changes. The successful candidate will work closely with Project Management, Production, Engineering, Purchasing, and Inventory to ensure production schedule conformance is maintained at > 95%. This person will verify that materials, equipment, and staffing are ready in time to meet scheduled production dates. Ideal candidates should have a work history that demonstrates their ability to successfully work in an environment that requires exceptional attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, have excellent computer skills, good customer service skills, and have prior experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Fully utilize the Oracle system to plan, implement and maintain production schedules
Work closely with department Supervisors, Project Managers, strategic partners, and Procurement to achieve an optimized schedule.
Release, post and implement production schedules for the Production and Assembly Teams
Monitor schedules for adherence to the plan
Coordinate and assist in determining materials, equipment, and staffing needed to cover production demand
Project capacity and planned utilization to reduce employee idle time, and work with Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering to minimize bottlenecks
Measure performance of all critical factors to ensure compliance to the production plan including publishing KPI’s
Assist with the planned schedule in prioritizing operations and distribution to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay
Take a leading role to resolve problem situations affecting scheduled production
Develop contingency plans to ensure there are no disruptions to planned production
Prepare and report on production risk analysis and action plans
Evaluating purchase orders for accuracy and to ensure production schedules are met
Monitor jobs to ensure they are on-track and will finish on schedule
Coordinate production operations in accordance with material, labor, and equipment availability
Recommend viable solutions to reduce production costs while improving production processes and product quality
Effect changes to production schedules to ensure that production deadlines are met
Compiling status and performance reports and submitting them to management in a timely manner
Promptly informing the relevant departments of changes to current production schedule
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in related field strongly preferred
5+ years’ experience in Supply Chain environment
Experience working with MRP/ERP systems
Prior Planning and Scheduling experience required
Strong computer skills: Excel, Access, and Oracle
Continuous Improvement (Lean Six Sigma) experience preferred
Ability to establish and achieve objectives working effectively with Program Leaders and all levels of employees
Strong organizational and planning skills with attention to detail is essential

The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $81,650.00–$124,600.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
