The National Director of Training will lead the PFS National Training Team, which includes 7-10 Trainers. This director will have all leadership responsibilities that come with leading a team of employees. From an overall Training perspective, the national leader will have overall responsibility for training strategy, design, development, and implementation of training programs that enhance the skills, knowledge, and performance of the Provider Field Solutions (PFS) team nationwide. This role requires a strategic thinker with a solid background in adult learning principles, training program development, and team leadership. The Director of Training will work closely with cross functional teams and other key stakeholders to ensure that training initiatives align with organizational goals and drive business success. This position will report to the Senior VP of Provider Field Solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Training Strategy Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive training strategy for the PFS team that supports the organization’s goals and objectives. This is inclusive of new hire training, ongoing staff training and leadership training

  • Program Design and Delivery: Design, develop, and deliver innovative training programs, including workshops, e-learning modules, webinars, and on-the-job training

  • Performance Assessment: Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics, and make continuous improvements. This includes development and implementation of Training MBOs

  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead and manage a team of trainers, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work collaboratively with PFS leaders, Human Capital, and other cross functional teams to identify training needs and develop targeted solutions

  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the training budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial constraints

  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure all training programs comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies

  • Technology Integration: Leverage the latest training technologies and platforms to enhance learning experiences and accessibility

  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular reports on training activities, outcomes, and ROI for senior management

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional, health care industry experience

  • 5+ years of experience in a Leadership role at the Director or higher level, including experience managing other people leaders

  • 3+ years of experience working in Medicare Risk Adjustment & Quality

  • Experience developing and/or revamping department work models (i.e. department framework, how is the work organized, staffing models, etc.)

  • Ability to travel nationally as needed, roughly 10% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of professional work experience in training and development

  • Experience leading a training and development team

  • Experience in designing and implementing successful training programs for a geographically dispersed team, inclusive of performance management metrics to evaluate both trainers and training programs

  • Advanced knowledge of Medicare Risk Adjustment & Quality Programs including hands-on experience working with Payers and Providers

  • Solid knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design

  • Knowledge of the latest trends and best practices in training and development

  • Proficiency in training software and Learning Management Systems (LMS)

  • Proven excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Proven solid analytical and problem-solving abilities

Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $122,100 to $234,700 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
