Summary

We are seeking a highly technical manager to oversee the operations, maintenance, and compliance of all operational technology systems at SRP power plants. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability and security of our energy production systems, with a strong emphasis on compliance on Safety, Cyber Security, Reliability, and NERC CIP (North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection) and other relevant operational and protection (O&P) standards.

  • Ability to support teams 24/7 operational responsibilities.

  • Ability to drive to Power Plants regularly. While there is flexibility, this is not a work from home job.

What You'll Do

  • Technology Management: Oversee the deployment, maintenance, and upgrading of software and hardware used in operational technology (OT) environments. Ensure all OT systems are running efficiently and are integrated with IT systems where necessary, without compromising security or compliance.

  • Operational Support: Provide ongoing activities and processes that ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of Generation applications. Additionally, focus on data correctness and timeliness as this has a significant impact on decision-making processes and the overall success of Power Generation.

  • Compliance: Ensure all OT systems and practices comply with NERC CIP standards to protect critical infrastructure from cyber threats. Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures to meet or exceed compliance with industry standards including O&P requirements.

  • Incident Response: Act as a key responder in the event of system failures or security breaches, coordinating recovery efforts to minimize downtime and impact. Exercise and manage incident response plans tailored to OT environments.

  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure that projects are delivered without any adverse impact on the organization. Monitor the progress of projects and take corrective action as required to ensure that they remain on track.

  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of engineers, providing guidance, training, and performance management. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and compliance within the team.

  • Reporting and Evaluation: Ensuring that program activities are properly documented and evaluated and providing regular reports to stakeholders on program outcomes and impact.

  • Budget and Resource Management: Provide input to the development and management of budgets for various projects and initiatives, ensuring that costs are kept within the approved limits. Allocate resources effectively to ensure that project activities are adequately resourced.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with various departments throughout SRP to ensure a cohesive approach to operations and cybersecurity across the OT systems. Liaise with vendors, regulatory bodies, and other external parties to stay updated with the latest in technology and compliance requirements.

  • Planning and Execution: Lead projects involving the installation or upgrade of OT systems, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Coordinate with various stakeholders such as engineers, contractors, and vendors to ensure smooth project implementation.

What It Takes To Succeed

  • Seven years of experience.

  • IT Infrastructure experience – required.

  • Engineering Degree – preferred.

  • Technical knowledge of SCADA systems, PLCs, DCS, and other control systems – preferred.

  • Experience in infrastructure operations with strong skills in core data center tools and methodologies.

  • Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and customer service skills are essential.

  • Proven communication skills and the ability to form productive working relationships.

  • Project planning, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Ability to successfully deliver technical solutions to business problems.

  • Ability to work with business stakeholders and IT technical staff in a team environment.

  • Ability to direct emergency situations with a calm and focused demeanor.

  • Excellent understanding of cybersecurity principles as they apply to OT.

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Ability to support teams 24/7 operational responsibilities.

  • Ability to drive to Power Plants regularly. While there is flexibility, this is not a work from home job.

Experience

Minimum of 7 years cumulative and progressive professional experience

Education

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
