Clean Harbors Groundwater Program Manager in Phoenix, Arizona
Clean Harbors is seeking a Groundwater Program Manager to join our team. The Program Manager is primarily responsible for managing our groundwater sampling teams in the field. This position will focus on our groundwater sampling team and will lead execution for that group. This position will oversee and coordinate collection, analysis, and reporting of groundwater samples from various sites.
**May require up to 50% travel and possibly more due to the needs of the business.
**Groundwater sampling experience highly preferred.
Location: Can live anywhere in the United States
Pay Range: $100K+ DOE salary; 15% Annual bonus
Travel: up to 50% travel will be needed in the field to train and support sampling projects that are needed.

Key Responsibilities:
Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
Use groundwater sampling experience to teach sampling to new hire; perform audits of existing samplers to make sure they are adhering to the strict rules and procedures; schedule the sampling program for the entire year; interface with facility personnel in regards to sampling; discuss sampling activities with our compliance department as well as 3rd party companies; be able to read and understand permits that outline sampling requirements;
Plan and coordinate groundwater sampling events with customers, including scheduling and staffing;
Ensure quality assurance and quality control checks on the samples are performed, such as collecting field blanks, duplicates and trip blanks, and verifying the chain of custody and documentation;
Coordinate with the laboratory staff on the sample analysis, such as selecting the analytical methods, parameters, and detection limits;
Review and interpret the analytical results, such as identifying trends, anomalies, and sources of contamination;
Prepare and present the sampling reports, such as summarizing the findings, conclusions, and recommendations;
Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of the Clean Harbors business.
What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?
High school diploma or equivalent required;
Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Sciences or related disciplines preferred;
5+ years’ demonstrated experience in groundwater sampling and monitoring;
Knowledge of the USGS protocols or EPA guidelines for groundwater sampling;
Familiarity with the hydrogeologic setting and the contaminants of concern in the project area;
Proficiency using various sampling equipment and materials, such as pumps, bailers, tubing, bottles and preservatives;
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team of field staff, laboratory staff, and project managers;
Strong customer management skills;
Valid Driver’s License and clean MVR required.
Physical Requirements
This position is physically demanding, and candidates must be able to navigate varying site conditions where steep slopes and rugged terrain may be present and walk several miles per day. Candidates must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted and wear personal protective equipment that may restrictive movement, when required.
Requires walking and standing for extended periods of time, sitting in equipment that may vibrate or jostle, climbing and working at heights, pulling/pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, crawling, stooping, crouching, and balance. Requires speaking, listening, understanding, and writing English; color determination, depth perception, clarity of vision, and 20/20 eyesight (corrected or uncorrected).
Maintains a clean and organized work environment, and a clean personal appearance. Facial hair must always comply with the company’s respiratory protection facial hair policy.
