What you'll do
We are seeking great people who can:
Set a high standard of consistent in-flight service that includes serving hot and cold meals/beverages and selling onboard products
Handle a wide variety of situations while in continuous contact with the public, both on and off the aircraft
Work independently while still being part of a collaborative team and without supervision
Ensure the safety and comfort of our customers
Provide leadership by responding to a variety of emergency and non-emergency situations
Work in climates and locations across the globe and work variable shifts
Meet our high standards of dependability to ensure our flights are on time.
Adhere to company policies, procedures, and attendance/performance standards
Adhere to alternative work schedules, including evenings and weekend
Demonstrating your ability to adapt to the flight attendant lifestyle
What you'll do (cont.)
**All candidates must be willing to attend up to 6 1/2 weeks of unpaid training in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, and, if you graduate from training class, move immediately to any of our base locations including:
BOS (Boston, MA)
CLT (Charlotte, NC)
DCA (Washington, DC)
DFW (Dallas-Fort Worth, TX)
JFK/LGA (New York City, NY)
LAX (Los Angeles, CA)
MIA (Miami, FL)
ORD (Chicago, IL)
PHL (Philadelphia, PA)
PHX (Phoenix, AZ)
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications
Must be at least 20 years of age
High school diploma or GED equivalent required
Height and weight must allow for the safe operation of the aircraft and may not exceed specific aircraft dimensions (for example, must be able to sit in a jump seat and fasten the harness, move throughout the cabin aisle, and operate emergency exits).
Must pass a DOT pre-employment drug test
Must pass a TSA required fingerprint-based criminal history records check and background check
Must be in possession of a valid U.S. or Foreign Passport with applicable VISAs
Must have the legal right to work in the United States and ability to travel unrestricted to/from all states and countries that are served by American Airlines
Willing to relocate based on the company’s operational needs if applicable
Able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours if needed
Able to be on call and available to report for duty in your assigned base (reserve duty). Reserve duty may continue for an undetermined amount of years.
Must be able to professionally represent the American Airlines brand while in the Flight Attendant uniform; no visible tattoos, no more than one (1) earring per ear
Ability to attend up to 6 1/2 weeks of unpaid training in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, and, if employed, move immediately to the city to which you are assigned as a base
Required Skills
Ability to read, write, make announcements,, give emergency orders, and communicate in the English Language
Ability to perform all safety-related procedures
Must be service-oriented
Self-starter, must have a positive attitude and a strong desire for success
Skilled in handling difficult situations, problem solving, complaint resolution, and conflict de-escalation
Ability to work with individuals and teams at all levels in the organization
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Ability to perform assigned duties, including standing for extended periods of time
Physical abilities consistent with day-to-day operations and duties (e.g. lifting luggage, window exits, standard door operating procedures), including the ability to lift fifty (50) pounds
Ability to close overhead storage compartments with a maximum push/pull force of approximately fifty (50) pounds
Assist disabled passengers during the flight into and out of the Inflight wheelchair, then transporting them as needed
Ability to push/pull beverage and food carts on wheels up and down inclines with a maximum force of approximately sixty (60) pounds
Extensive travel, ability to spend consecutive nights away from home and endure all climates
Adhere to alternative work schedules including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours if needed
