NASCO Financial Manager II - Atlanta Based Remote in Phoenix, Arizona
Overview
This role primarily involves interfacing with and supporting senior leadership, including the Director, Executive Director, VP, and CEO levels, across the company. The work is carried out with minimal direction, allowing for independence within broad parameters of company policies, procedures, and unit objectives. A key responsibility is overseeing the progress of lower-level team members, ensuring that their work is completed adequately and on time. The quality and overall completion of the work are reviewed based on the achievement of set objectives. Additionally, this role provides financial management leadership, offering guidance and direction to both management and individual performers throughout the organization.
The Financial Manager II role will focus heavily on costing, pricing, developing models for larger proposals, budgeting, multi-year planning, and setting up & maintaining interfaces between financial systems. Within these responsibilities, this role will be maintaining and reporting against large data repositories.
This role requires residence near the Atlanta area, with the expectation of occasional in-office presence, approximately once a month, as needed.
Responsibilities
Performs monthly closing activities according to established processes and standards
Reconciles and researches general ledger account
Reconciles and reports on budgeted/forecasted numbers versus actual reports
Develops annual budgets and monthly forecasts
Reports on Business Intelligence, combining trend analysis for both financial and statistical data elements
Develops and implements new business metrics
Creates exception reporting (i.e. ad hoc reports)
Performs project level analysis and forecasting
Performs price/cost modeling of a moderately complex to complex nature involving multiple service offerings and both implementation and ongoing cost model development
Provides oversight and review for other staff members and lead assigned projects
Develops and implements processes, procedures, and automated tools to accomplish tasks efficiently and effectively
Qualifications
Required Experience:
10 years of progressive responsibility in Analyst/Accountant role, or equivalent work experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
Effective analytical skills
Ability to interpret data in order to identify trends and variances
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to communicate appropriately across all levels of an organization
Ability to interpret financial information
Ability to explain financial information
Effective interpersonal skills to promote working relationships with staff, customers, and vendors
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Effective presentation and facilitation skills
Advanced skills using financial databases
Strong mathematical aptitude
Effective problem solving skills
Effective research skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines while maintaining high accuracy
Advanced knowledge of accounting/finance principles, concepts and practices
Advanced knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of accounting and finance such as GAAP or other applicable laws and regulations
Advanced knowledge of computer and accounting systems
Preferred Experience:
Experience with tools to manage large data repositories (outside of Excel) a plus.
Experience with Adaptive Planning a plus.
Experience with other tools such as NetSuite and Planview a plus.
Understanding of GAAP rules for capitalizing internally developed software a plus.
