Clean Harbors Facility General Manager I in Phoenix, Arizona

Clean Harbors located in Pheonix, AZ is looking for a General Manager to join their safety conscious team. The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the Phoenix facility- including the transfer, storage, and disposal facility which includes waste management, health & safety, compliance, profit & loss, and staffing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;

  • Manages the facility to the clean compliance standards and measures against the CCP KPI’s;

  • Manages processing of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes according to regulatory and customer requirements. Knowledge of facility specific capabilities and processing technologies including wastewater treatment, fuels blending, incineration, lab pack Works closely with the safety department to enhance and improve safety within the facility;

  • Partner with Facility Compliance Manager to maintain the facility compliance;

  • Manages and ensures accurate and timely analytical, final coding, and billing of lab pack, drum, bulk solid and bulk liquid materials;

  • Works closely with National Logistics to ensure proper outbound management of waste materials from disposal facilities assuring a least cost routing methodology is used;

  • Responsible for management of profit and loss statement according to budgeted revenue and percentages. Assures operating costs, labor, materials, supplies, disposal, and SG&A costs meet or exceed budgeted parameters. Approves purchasing and manages labor to assure operating costs are in line with budgeted and projected revenue;

  • Responsible for training and development of plant employees. Responsible for mentoring current and future managers assuring the continued growth of the company;

  • Management of maintenance department including oversight of preventative maintenance systems;

  • Assures facility is always properly maintained, clean and presentable for customer audits and tours;

  • Develops and assures a good working relationship with the local Field Service and Technical Services GM and Logistics Managers;

  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of the Clean Harbors business.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree or MBA is preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or operations within a chemical plant or similar manufacturing environment. At least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in logistics software (e.g., WMS, TMS, ERP systems) and strong analytical skills. Knowledge of chemical handling regulations and safety standards is essential.

  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams. Strong decision-making skills and the ability to drive results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.

  • Problem-solving: Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. Ability to make informed decisions quickly and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified Logistics Professional (CLP), or similar are advantageous.

What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors’ degree preferred;

  • 10+ years industry experience preferred;

  • 6+years of plant operations experience;

  • 3+ years of management experience;

  • Working knowledge of environmental statutes and regulations;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;

  • Able to make real-time decisions
