Position Profile

The Dementia Education Specialist will develop and promote educational opportunities and media initiatives to increase awareness and knowledge about Hospice of the Valley’s Dementia Care and Education Campus (DCEC) programs. Creates digital content for social media, delivers presentations, and educates both professionals and the community about all HOV dementia services.

Responsibilities

  • Provides inspiring education about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias to the community venues.

  • Educates community members and groups on supporting persons living with dementia and the services offered by HOV’s Dementia Care and Education Campus.

  • Conducts presentations at various venues, including weekends and evenings, to raise community awareness.

  • Identifies new & innovative opportunities to promote HOV’s Dementia Campus and Supportive Care for Dementia services.

  • Develops and maintains in-depth state-of-the-art knowledge base about dementia care.

  • Develops and implements a marketing plan for the Dementia Care and Education Campus and all HOV dementia services in the community.

  • Collaborates with Director of Community Engagement, Dept. of Business Development and DCEC Leadership team to develop and implement a marketing plan for DCEC & HOV Dementia services.

  • Enhances visibility and knowledge of DCEC services among professionals, healthcare agencies, and civic and community groups.

  • Promotes DCEC services through TV and radio presentations, as well as digital content for social media.

  • Provides dynamic and tailored group presentations.

  • Assesses the needs and understanding of individuals with dementia, their families, and caregivers during group presentations.

  • Provides relevant and timely information tailored to the specific needs and goals of the audience, covering topics like disease progression, caregiver self-care, and advanced directives.

  • Utilizes appropriate teaching strategies to ensure effective learning and engagement.

  • Referral & Stakeholder Engagement.

  • Monitors and analyzes referral activities and trends to drive continual improvement.

  • Gathers feedback from internal and external stakeholders, including DCEC programs, to enhance service levels and market share.

  • Upholds professional boundaries and consistently projects a professional image in all interactions.

  • Utilizes resources effectively and efficiently.

  • Maintains and enhances professional skills.

  • Adheres to high standards of personal and professional conduct.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.

  • Knowledge base of marketing and community outreach.

  • Strong public speaking skills.
