Responsibilities

The Barrow Emergency Stroke Treatment Unit (BESTU) is a specially equipped and staffed mobile emergency room that brings expert stroke care directly to patients revolutionizing the way many stroke victims in Phoenix receive treatment. The

mobile stroke unit contains a portable lab and CT Scanner clot-dissolving drugs and a trained stroke team. The team connects with a Barrow vascular neurologist via telemedicine. Barrow launched the unit in partnership with the Phoenix Fire Department whose 911 dispatchers deploy the unit whenever they receive a call about a possible stroke within the unit’s response radius. The collaboration is helping to speed the process in which strokes are diagnosed and treated with the goal of reducing death and long erm disability among stroke victims

Staffed 24/7/365 with:

Stroke-Certified Registered Nurses CT Technologists and Paramedics

• Computerized Tomography

• Stat Lab Studies

• Pharmacological Interventions

• Neurological Examinations Provided by Barrow Vascular Neurologists via Telemedicine

Responsibilities:

  • Performs CT scanning recommends performance improvement activities and assists in equipment and procedure evaluations in the mobile stroke setting.

  • Performs CT scans based on current protocols and/or radiologist recommendations. CT scans include but are not limited to: Trauma/ER Perfusions Routine Body Routine Neuro Cardiac and Interventional Procedures Utilizes good radiation safety practices for patients self and others. Uses ALARA on every exam when selecting parameters for exam based on patient age and habitatus.

  • Accurately and proficiently performs work-ups such as perfusions & reconstructions on the 3-D workstation

  • Accurately and thoroughly completes hospital/department specific forms per protocol. Completes exams in Radnet. Completes incident reports/extravasations forms. Completes patient contrast information forms. Scans in documentation as required into PACS

We are offering a $10000.00 Sign On Bonus in addition to relocation to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements .

Qualifications

Minimum:

Education:

Completion of approved American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or equivalent approved Radiologic Technologist Program Medical Radiologic

Certifications:

Must hold and maintain AZ DHS Bureau of Special Licensing

CRT: Certified Radiologic Technologist (CT CRT)

CTCT: Certified Technologist/Computed Tomography

AZ Drivers License (DRV LIC)

American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (CT ARRT)

American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CT CPRBLS)

Pay Range

$33.60 - $48.73 /hour
