The Door Group of ASSA ABLOY has just begun recruitment efforts for a Category Manager. This position will be based on-site and work out of our brand-new regional manufacturing facility or Service Center that will be opening in Phoenix, Arizona and will support several of our facilities located across North America.

What would you do as our Category Manager?

You will be is responsible for overseeing the sourcing activities associated with paint, adhesive, and capital equipment across the Door Group. This includes developing and executing strategic sourcing initiatives, identifying and developing relationships with suppliers, and identifying new and alternative technologies and cost savings initiatives. This position will also be responsible for developing, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and agreements for the assigned categories.

You would also:

  • Acquire and maintain a robust knowledge of market dynamics and trends, suppliers, and supplier competencies for the assigned categories.

  • Develop a deep understanding of spend across the assigned categories, conduct analysis and identify opportunities to consolidate and leverage spend, and identify gaps, opportunities, and risks.

  • Develop an understanding of equipment and paint/adhesive manufacturers to reduce costs and improve results.

  • Create category plans and perform benchmarking activities utilizing current tools and technologies to ensure the most competitive position for the company.

  • Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering teams and suppliers to conduct innovation workshops and leverage supplier expertise.

  • Work with internal stakeholders to evaluate new suppliers and technologies and develop procurement strategies that reduce total cost of ownership and improve safety, quality, availability, service, and innovation.

  • Develop and negotiate commercial agreements in line with strategic initiatives, including strong considerations for safety, environmental and innovation. Ensure Company’s intellectual property and indemnity interests are protected and enforced through contract compliance and contracts are maintained in a central repository, renewed, and executed in a timely fashion.

  • Ensure process consistency and streamline the capital procurement process.

  • Lead, support, and assist in supplier selection and qualification and work with internal stakeholders to develop, evaluate proposals and ensure delivery terms are properly established.

  • Participate in, coordinate, and manage carbon footprint reduction and sustainability projects and efforts for the assigned category across the Group.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Actively participate in providing a safe and harmonious working environment for all employees

  • Comply and enforce compliance of all state and federal regulations, Company standards and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct

    Preferred experience / background we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business or related field.

  • 3+ years of supply chain / procurement experience related to capital purchases.

  • Previous exposure to contract development, review, and negotiations.

  • Previous exposure or experience working in a manufacturing environment, a matrixed corporate structure, and/or supporting multiple sites.

  • Demonstrate the capability to develop and streamline processes.

  • Possess excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to present to all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to multi-task and handle tasks or projects with competing priorities

  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite with advanced skills in Excel.
