This position offers the opportunity to work closely with Care Delivery markets, regional controllers, and sister businesses (SCA, MedExpress, etc.). This role maintains general ledger accounts and related activities to produce financial statements and reports for Optum National Accounting Shared Services. This role is actively involved in the monthly and quarterly close process, which includes preparing and reviewing journal entries, reviewing account classifications, and preparing and reviewing account reconciliations in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

Primary Responsibilities:
Assist in monthly and quarterly close processes, tasks include (but not limited to):
Preparing and reviewing monthly and quarterly Shared Service journal entries
Preparing and reviewing key reconciliations monthly
Researching and resolving account and transaction issues / differences as needed
Serve as a resource to others within the Controllership, including Optum Global Solutions (OGS) staff based in India to ensure journal entries and monthly deliverables are prepared timely
Reviewing Shared Services ledger balances during close and investigate variances as needed
Completing other special projects as required
Effectively communicate with business partners (finance, CDO’s, and other key business individuals)
Use work experiences to create process improvements including automation and centralization
Support the organization’s sound internal control structure around U.S. GAAP, Sarbanes – Oxley by developing and maintaining process and internal control documentation for Shared Services journal entries
Prepare quarterly income statement and balance sheet fluctuation analysis by working with members of CDOs
Assist with National Accounting’s testing of CDO operated controls, as needed
Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or relevant accounting experience.
3+ years of professional accounting experience
Proven solid understanding and practical application of U.S. GAAP
Demonstrated intermediate proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Visio)
Experience working with general ledger/sub-ledger accounting applications
Preferred Qualifications:
Public accounting experience and/or CPA designation
Health care industry experience
Ability to demonstrate the technical and functional skills necessary to prepare and analyze account reconciliations
Proven understanding of internal controls and experience with documenting processes
Ability to demonstrate solid analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to demonstrate success with process improvement
Ability to demonstrate the ability to plan upcoming work while also prioritizing current workload to handle ad-hoc requests
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships across the organization
Ability to demonstrate solid coaching skills and adaptability to different working styles
Experience with PeopleSoft and/or Blackline

Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $70,200 to $137,800 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
